Muffin

Five reasons why you'll love Muffin

  1. Muffin speaks your language, not money management jargon, not programmer geek-speak and certainly not Klingon (yet).
  2. Using Muffin is quick and painless. It’ll no longer be a chore to have your budget keep up with your life.
  3. You (presumably) work hard for your paycheck. Soon you'll be able to let Muffin do the hard work of helping you keep it! (Or help you just spend it on the things you really want to spend it on.)
  4. Because it’s online you can access Muffin from home, from work, or from school and because there’s no software to download, you’re always running the latest and greatest version of Muffin we got going!
  5. It's free (but donations are welcomed)!

Simple

Muffin is all about simplicity. I created Muffin because I needed a simple way of planning and tracking my spending and nothing I tried quite did the trick for me.

One major problem I wanted Muffin to solve was that I never kept my budget up to date with my spending. In all the tools I tried it was just to awkward to do and so most of the time I just didn't bother! And sometimes (surprise surprise) I went overdrawn because of that.

Muffin was designed from the ground up with this in mind. You'll find that Muffin is all about real-world numbers and making it as easy as possible to get those numbers into your budget, where Muffin can get them working for you.

Useable

Muffin is online so you can access it anywhere. Muffin makes adding spending really quick and easy, especially if do it via email or (coming soon) dashboard widget.

I also figured that the main reason I wanted a "budget" or "spending plan" was to see how much money would be left over after I pay all my bills. Using what you've told it, Muffin tells you at a glance how much money you should have on hand now, and how much will be left after all your bills have been paid. And guess what, you can also request these summaries via email too (very handy if your phone can send/receive emails)!

Muffin isn't about setting limits on your spending and making you feel bad when you (rightly or wrongly) go over those limits. It's time you were treated like an adult. You tell Muffin if your spending was planned or if it was unplanned/miscellaneous and Muffin simply adjusts to let you see how that spending has affected you.

Powerful

Muffin is smart. A lot smarter than your checkbook ledger and your Excel spreadsheet. You can ask Muffin to show you, for example, how much you've spent on "Jack In The Box" from March 12 to May 4. Or how many times you spent more than $134 since October 12. Or, the real eye-opener for me, how much of my total spending this month was on unplanned items.
